What Do We Do When it's Silent? | Musical Play

When we visit early childhood centres, one of the loveliest things we come across is not the music – but the silence. It can be so tempting to fill that space, but when we observe children deeply playing and a sense of calm and true engagement in an early childhood centre it is truly wonderful to see.

You might assume that in that situation we’d suggest adding some music to the mix. We don’t. Keep it quiet. Keep that level of calm and let the children make the music for themselves.
