Taking the opportunity to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Play Therapy and Musical Play with experienced and inspiring mentors was career changing. I enjoyed the positive and nurturing learning process and looked forward to my regular virtual meetings with both mentors. The content of the course was relevant, purposeful and motivating. One of my biggest takeaways from the course was the opportunity to visit Christchurch and have powerful discussions with the group. The workshops made practical connections to the text and united us all together in song, movement and play. The course gave me the tools to follow the child’s lead and build educational opportunities, inspired by their ideas. I learnt to listen to the child, to use strategies to help regulate their emotions and have developed a classroom space where the children feel safe and free to explore and create. I would highly recommend this opportunity for anyone who works with children and would like to create an inclusive and creative atmosphere that explores the world of the child.
